Finally, there is a new app to help families drive down energy costs in their home. This free app called LightSmart is only available for iPad and iPhone. By taking photos of each room, users can see how differences in lighting would impact their space. Users can compare light bulbs and see how they can save energy and money, find the right bulb, and learn how lighting is changing. The app allows user to learn about concepts of energy savings, color, light and wattage and create a shopping list to improve their home energy costs.
It is easy to use this new LightSmart app. The app provides three sections: Save, Find, and Learn.
Section 1: Save
In the first section, the app allows users to enter what kind of bulb considering to replace and enter the wattage currently being used. Using these data, the app calculates the potential savings by switching to a new light bulb. Also it recommends the users the best choice for the light bulb replacement.
Section 2: Find
In the second section of the app, users can upload a photo of their room and see the changes in lighting. The app displays the original image provided and allows the users to see the modified image with new lighting options. It also makes recommendations and displays potential cost savings in energy prices.
Section 3: Learn
In the last section, users can learn about concepts of energy savings, color, light and wattage. All the newest terms and technologies related to lighting can be learned as well. Do you know what’s a lumen?
