7 Tips to Fight Fall Allergies

Autumn is fast approaching and all parents need to start preparing for another allergy season.  Early fall is another time where our kids can be attacked with allergies caused by pollen and even school.  There are many unknown allergens at school that can make your child miserable at school.  All parents with kids with allergies must look out for the following symptoms:

  • Sneezing
  • Runny nose
  • Itchy nose and throat
  • Itchy and watery eyes

It is important to keep open communication with your child and how they are feeling physically.  If your child have allergies, here is a list of tips for reducing kids’ allergies and good ways to combat allergies.

  • Clean your home often to prevent dust piling up
  • Use plastic covers for pillow and mattresses
  • Wash bedding once a month in hot water
  • Close all windows to keep pollens out of the house
  • Use air purifier or humidifier
  • If you’ve been outside, make sure you take shower and wash your hair before going to bed so you don’t spend the night covered in allergens
  • Saline solution nose spray can help loosen secretions. It is not a drug and can be used as often as you want. You can make your own by adding 1/4 tsp. salt to 8 oz. warm water
