Many people add improving financial life and saving money as part of their new year’s resolutions. They want to improve their overall financial life and at the same time save money so that they can be better prepared for their future. Although they may start out with a strong enthusiasm, for whatever the reason, they cannot maintain it throughout the year as their motivation wears down and become worse off in the end. Below are four ultimate smart ways to improve your finance and save money.
1. Bring in Extra Income
I know there are people who wished they can bring in some extra income on top of what they are currently brining home. You start thinking about potential salary increase from your current employer or getting a higher paying job. If you can increase your income from your job, then it would be ideal and your life would be better. However, most people cannot be able to get an increase or a higher paying job. Fortunately for these people, there are alternatives when it comes to bringing in a few hundred dollars every month. Consider visiting Craigslist to find out if there are any services you can provide to seekers. If you have a specific skill such as home repair, auto repair, or even writing, then you should easily be able to bring in the extra income. If you do not have a specific skill, then you should spend the time and learn a skill.
3. Free Trips Can Save You Thousands of Dollars
There are plenty of credit cards out there that provide not only sign up bonus but also airline mileages. With enough credit cards, you can really fund a trip to exotic places around the world. But according to MoneyGreenLife, there are things that you should be aware of before signing up for several promotional credit cards in a short period of time.
3. Conserve Energy
Did you know you can improve your financial life by decreasing energy consumption? As you already know, energy cost can get quiet expansive. Anything you can do to conserve energy helps you save money. For example, use programmable thermostats to heat or cool your home throughout the day is a smart idea instead of wasting the energy while no one is at home during the day.
4. Find Ways to Live Below Your Means
I truly believe living below your means can make a big difference. It can be difficult to make this change and start living below your means but it can be done as long as you are committed and motivated. One easy way to live below your means is to set up an automatic saving by taking a certain percentage of your net income. This will help you reset your spending limit to a lower level. After you make this change, the next step would be to never never never spend money that you don’t already have. Another great way to save is to take advantage of free money, like using coupons on sites, an example being coupons.answers.com. Once you get used to this new life style, you will be more satisfied with your life because you now know not only you can live below your means but also you can save money at the same time.

Thanks so much for the link. I think you hit the nail on the head. Find ways to live below your means. It is pretty simple. Conserving energy and expanding income is also good. Expanding income sources is my project for 2012. We shall see how it goes.
Hmm.. I’m going to take your project and make it my project. More money is always better.
Increasing extra income is at the top of my list. I continue to look for ways to cut items from our budget.
Yup – we are working on generating a minimum of 5 income streams, the more passive the better. And we have cut out quite a bit of spending, mainly on insurances that were either too expensive or not needed because of alternative cover. The other expense we cut down on is motoring but then we live close to a bus route into a major city.
Between all these, the future is rosy!
