During the Summer vacation, everyone in the family is relaxed and become somewhat lazy about time. In a blink of an eye, Summer is gone and another new school year starts. It can get daunting sometimes just preparing for the new school year especially for the parents. Below are 4 tips that can help the parents to create a smoother routines for the kids so that kids are not rushing out the door every morning.
1. Streamlining school routines start the night before. Prepare kids meals for the next day especially breakfast and lunch. Prepare on the counter the breakfast food that can be prepared quickly so that kids can help themselves in the morning without searching for the items. Also, it helps if lunch can be prepared the night before or at least you are prepared to make the lunch quickly in the morning.
2. In addition to preparing for the next day meals, parents should prepare/select every child clothes to wear the next day and check all backpacks for homework, permission slips, and special projects. You do not want to delay this preparation to next morning or something important will always be forgotten.
3. Waking up little early can be very helpful. Try waking up 15 minutes early every day to help calm the hectic morning for the kids. Also, set your kids’ alarm clock ahead to give them few extra minutes.
4. Use calendar to your benefit. All kids activities and appointments should be written down on the calendar or on your smart phone / iPad. Parents need to get in the habit of consulting the calendar every day to see what’s planned for the day and appropriately preparing for all upcoming activities.



Waking up a little early is definitley a good idea, espeically right when school is starting. It takes time to get back into the routine and so waking up a little early for a week or two makes it all easier!
